A man in his early 40s has been arrested after a shop in Tallaght was held up.
Shortly after 6pm yesterday a man, armed with a knife, threatened staff at a store in the Castletymon Shopping Centre. He later left on foot with a sum of money.
Gardaí from the Tallaght district drugs unit were patrolling the area and tackled the man to the ground.
He threatened officers with the knife but was arrested at the scene.
The stolen cash was also recovered.
The man is currently detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Tallaght Garda station.
No one was injured during the robbery and investigations are ongoing.
