A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Michael Tormey, who was shot dead outside his home in Dublin earlier this month.
Christopher Devine, of Convent Lawns, Ballyfermot, Dublin, was remanded in custody following a brief appearance before a district court judge.
Michael Tormey was shot dead outside his home on Thomond Road in Ballyfermot in the early hours of Sunday, January 9th.
Christopher Devine was taken in for questioning last Thursday night.
A decision to charge him with Mr Tormey’s murder was made last night. He made no reply after it was put to him and he was taken to court this morning.
Following an application by his solicitor, the judge recommended that he receive whatever medical care he needs while in custody, including psychiatric assessment.
If he wishes to apply for bail, he’ll have to do so before a High Court judge. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance this day week.
A woman who was also arrested as part of the Garda investigation has been released without charge.
