The body of a woman in her 20s has been found in Cork City.
She was discovered unresponsive at an apartment on Liberty Street at around 6.30am on New Year's Day.
She was pronounced dead a short time later.
A man, also aged in his 20s, was arrested this morning and is being held at Bridewell Garda Station.
Her body remains at the scene and a technical exam will be carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau.
A post-mortem is also expected to be carried out later today, and the results will determine the course of the investigation
