Dublin's Parliament Street could become traffic-free under plans being considered by the city council.
Car numbers have dropped by 72 per cent since Capel Street on the opposite side of the River Liffey became pedestrianised in May.
City councillors will be presented with three options at a meeting today which include making Parliament street completely traffic-free, reducing traffic to one lane or only allowing buses, taxis and cyclists to use the route.
It follows a number of traffic-free days during the summer and last year.
Officials are recommending the preparation of detailed options for the street to examine the feasibility and impacts of each one.
Meanwhile, the council is also recommending Fishamble Street be made one way northbound with cycling southbound permitted.
