Dublin's first Luke Kelly Festival is taking place today in Smithfield Square, from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock this evening.
The festival, presented by the City Council, is free to attend and has a huge line-up of live music performances, discussion sessions, and arts & crafts. The event is suitable for people of all ages and families.
The day was put together by artist MacDara Yeates and author Leagues O'Toole, in liaison with Paula McCann representing the Luke Kelly family.
Lord Mayor Daithí de Róiste is encouraging everyone to get down to Smithfield and enjoy everything the festival has to offer throughout the day.
"Well if the interest on social media since we announced this a couple of weeks ago is anything to go by, we're going to have an absolutely fabulous day."

"It's about time that we're celebrating and recognising the import of Luke on Dublin. His songs and lyrics are sang in pubs and in houses across Dublin and across Ireland every night of the week. And this is something I think is going to grow and grow."
The line-up for the day includes performances by Inner City Voices, Pauline Scanlon, Seán Cannon, and Chris Kavanagh, among others.
There will also be a crafts area, where you can find a Luke Kelly statue workshop, which includes polystyrene replicas of the iconic Guild Street statue. Visitors can fill in Luke's curly hair and beard, using sustainable materials.
The festival takes place at the perfect time. Earlier in the week, it was announced that Luke Kelly was voted the person that best represents Irish heritage.
