Luis Suarez is in line to make his long-awaited comeback from injury for Barcelona tonight after nearly five months on the sidelines.
The former Liverpool forward had been set to miss the rest of the season after having surgery on his knee in late January but is now set to spearhead the Catalans' bid to defend their La Liga title.
Suarez was this morning given the medical green light to travel with the Barcelona squad for their Spanish league match away to Mallorca this evening.
"Every day he's in better shape and after five months it's going to be great for him to play some minutes and try to find the best Suarez," Barca boss Quique Setien said of his striker's fitness this week.
“I’m sure he could play from the start, but it would be foolish to give him 90 minutes. We need to avoid taking risks.”
Barcelona captain Leo Messi has also travelled to the Balearics after shaking off a thigh issue to train last night.
"Fortunately Messi, these kinds of players that have been playing for so many years, they know how to control their fatigue," Setien added.
"I'm sure if there's some risk, Messi will be the first to say that he needs to rest.
