Dublin city councillors have voted to leave the rate of local property tax unchanged for next year.
A motion had been put forward to higher the rate and use the funds to clean the Capital's streets.
However this was defeated at a council meeting last night.
Dublin City Council management proposed hiring around 100 new staff to do street cleaning in the city.
All it took was for councillors to stop voting to cut the Local Property Tax this year.
And in the last few minutes, a majority voted to cut it. No new cleaning staff, so.🤦♂️

Green Party Cllr Darcy Lonergan was one of those who wanted a higher rate.
Councillors have spent hours about how dirty the streets have been and now we have the opportunity to do something about it . Now DCC have been doing their best to clean it as much as possible but they have been very very clear on what they need . And we need more resources and more people on the ground and for that we need more money.''
