The hosts make a total of four changes from the side that lost to Brighton in midweek.
Caoimhin Kelleher makes way for Allisson in goal, while Sadio Mane and Curtis Jones are also in from the start.
New signing Ozan Kabak is among the substitutes.
Manchester City, meanwhile, come into the game in a strong position.
They are seven points clear of Liverpool - with a game in hand - and will view a win as a major step towards the title.
Oleksander Zinchenko is in for the visitors, with Raheem Sterling set to line up once again against his old club.
Phil Foden also starts.
Speaking ahead of the match, City boss Pep Guardiola has been keen to play shower praise on today's opponents.
There have been suggestions that City could play for a draw - a result which would do them more favours than Liverpool.
Guardiola, however, has been adamant that he will go there to win the game.
"Never ever in my career as a manager have I prepared to draw a game,' he said.
'Sometimes it is not possible, the opponent is better so in the last 10 or 15 minutes it is better not to lose.
"But in the beginning, no way. Try to win the game.
'That is what we are going to do, always have done.
"Liverpool are the champions and I have no doubts we will see their best version, full of aggressivity and desire.
'It will be harder than ever so we have to be prepared and show enough courage to win the game.'
