Rushing to the Passport Office just before going on your holidays will soon be a thing of the past. From 2017, you'll be able to renew your passport online.
According to The Irish Times, the Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed plans for an online application that Irish citizens can avail of.
This online process is set to be introduced early next year, after a surge in passport applications in the wake of Britain's exit from the European Union last month.
The new service will be funded by a major reform programme announced last year worth €18.6 million for the Department of Foreign Affairs.
