Well that's about to change, as it's reported Whatsapp is going to start - finally - supporting GIFs.
A group which monitors Whatsapp beta updates says it has noted that an upcoming version of the app will "autoplay GIF links and embed them directly into your conversations".
It means you won't have to open up a GIF link in a browser, and that animated image will have much more impact in your Whatsapp chat.
