You'll be able to pack more into your tweets from next week.
From Monday, things like links, photos and GIFs won't count towards Twitter's 140 character limit. The change was initially signaled back in May.
The tweaks are designed to give users more room to say what they want. The company will also allow you to mention up to 50 people in a tweet.
And you know the way you have to put a fullstop before someone's name if you want to start a tweet their handle, and also want to make sure everyone sees it? Well, you won't have to do that anymore. It's ditching the “.@” syntax when you want to start a tweet with someone’s username.
Earlier this year, Twitter was rumored to be looking at expanding its character limit to the 10,000 mark. That was decided against, with company CEO Jack Dorsey explaining the 140 limit "allows for of-the-moment brevity.”
