Finally its the news that all us chocolate lovers have been waiting for!
Recent studies have shown that eating chocolate could make you smarter.
Recent research by the University of South Australia has found that it all comes down to cocoa flavanols (the nutrients found in cocoa and your own cognitive system.
In the first study of its kind, researchers have been following 1000 people over 30 years examining every part of their life from diet, fitness and even the level of chocolate they take in.
It found that those who eat chocolate at least once a week or even more received a higher score when it came to cognitive tasks, than those who only ate it now and again. These tasks ranged from a number of things such as visual memory, concentration, and organisation.
Dr Georgie Crichton, who lead the study states that "Chocolate and cocoa flavanols have been associated with improvements in a range of health complaints dating from ancient times.' She further stated that they believe the link is found between the high amount of flavanols found in chocolate that helps boost brain power.
However, the study also reminds us that everything in moderation and that with chocolate intake should come a healthy diet.
So from now on we have an excuse to eat that final square.
