Storm Hannah To Hit Ireland On Friday Night

What a difference a few days can make to the weather in Ireland. The Easter Bank Holiday Weekend may have been a scorcher, but Storm Hannah is on the way.

Met Eireann says the bad weather will hit Ireland on Friday night, with gusts of up to 110 to 130 km/h forecast in parts. Munster and Connacht will be worst affected.

Storm Hannah: Weather Warnings

An orange wind warning has been issued for Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick from 4pm on Friday until 5am on Saturday.

The forecaster says: "Becoming stormy on Friday evening and overnight as Storm Hannah moves in. Southerly winds, later veering northwesterly will reach mean speeds of 65-80 km/h with gusts of 110 to 130 km/h. Be prepared for possible disruption and power outages."

Meanwhile, a yellow weather alert has been issued for Connacht, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Donegal, Tipperary and Waterford.

"Becoming very windy on Friday night and for a time on Saturday morning. Southerly winds will veer northwesterly and reach mean speeds of 50-65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110 km/h", Met Eireann said.

This wind warning is valid from Friday at 11pm until Saturday at 9am.

Dublin Forecast

Dublin looks set to miss the brunt of the bad weather.  However, we will keep you updated.

Friday morning will be cloudy with rain and drizzle. There will be more rain tomorrow afternoon. It will become windy along with coast with strengthening southerly winds. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees.

National Outlook

Winds will ease across the country on Saturday morning. It will be cool and bright with sunny spells and scattered showers. Highs of 9 to 12 degrees.

Sunday will be mild and cloudy with a small amount of patchy rain and drizzle in parts. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees.

A band of rain will move eastwards across the country on Monday. It will clear later with scattered showers following. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Met Eireann says current indications suggest that Tuesday and Wednesday next will bring sunny spells and scattered showers. Highest temperatures between 13 and 15 degrees.
