Penneys will open its first store in the U.S. today. The 77,000-square-foot department store will open in Downtown Crossing, Boston.
The first Penneys opened in Dublin in 1969 and since then has expanded to 292 stores across Europe. Speaking about bringing the store to America, Jodie Jones, Primark's style editor said: 'Much like us, Boston has an Irish heritage; so we’re pretty positive we’re going to feel right at home'
Philadelphia is next to get the Penneys treatment, with plans to open 7 more stores across the U.S. in the next two years.
