Getting from A to B in Dublin can be a headache at the best of times but on St Patrick's Day, it really is a nightmare.
Thousands of people will take to the streets to marvel in the city's St Patrick's Day Parade and because of this, there are a number of transport changes you should know about.
Here's your quick guide on how to get around Dublin this March 17th:
Luas
According to the Luas website, both the Red and Green Luas lines will face some disruption on St Patrick's Day. On the Red Line, trams will run between Smithfield and Tallaght / Saggart only from about 10:30am to 2:30pm to facilitate the parade on O'Connell Street. The first tram will be at 7am and the last tram will leave the city centre towards Saggart at 10:50pm. The last Luas to Tallaght is at 11:30pm.
The Luas Green Line won't face as much disruption but users are advised to expect some delays in the afternoon when the St. Patrick’s Day events are underway. The first tram on the Green Line is at 7am. The last tram from St. Stephen’s Green towards Brides Glen will leave at 11:30pm.
Dublin Bus
A number of diversions will be in place on bus services between Thursday 16th and Sunday 19th March because of the events in the city centre. Check out how your bus route has changed on the Dublin Bus site.
On St. Patrick’s Day itself, AA Roadwatch say all routes will run on a Sunday timetable. City Tour, Coastal Tours, Beyond Barricades Tour and Ghostbus Tour services will not be running on the day. The St Patrick's Day Parade will bring unavoidable delays to all routes and some routes will be diverted too.
A full Nitelink service will operate on Thursday 16th, Friday 17th and Saturday 18th March but there'll be no Nitelink on Sunday 19th March.
DART
AA Roadwatch say that the DART will operate a Sunday service on St. Patrick’s Day. The Tara Street and Docklands Station will both be closed until 4pm and there'll be no service between Newbridge/Hazelhatch/Grand Canal Dock.
There'll be some alterations as well to the service that runs between Pearse Station and Drogheda/Dundalk. The Pearse/Maynooth service will also be subject to changes.
