We are so delighted to have Brian Dowling back on 98FM!
Brian returned to his show with Suzanne Kane on Monday 16th September, live every weekday from 10am to 1pm.
Returning to the airwaves, Brian tells all about life with his new daughter Blu, how they picked her name, and what it’s like now being a parent of two.
"We were struggling with the name if I’m honest, we had Blu Valentina and then Valentina had changed. Valentina could have been her first name but then I thought people might abbreviate to Val and I thought, she’s too young for that. She’s not a Val, so it was Blu Amar, which is Armenian for Summer. Arthur came in with the Summer, with Amar and I like Blake, Blu. My ego, Brian, all B’s. Arthur gets DNA, I get names. I gotta get something, I gotta get a look in.”
Brian and his husband Arthur Gourounlian have had a summer adjusting to life with 2 little girls. Brian tells us what it's been like coming back to work and spending time apart from Blake and Blu.
"This morning Blake wasn’t up when we left so I felt a bit emotional, I’ve not seen her and then saying goodbye to Blu I was a little teary, but you know what it’s like, I think that’s just part of it. This is my new normal of 2 girls.”

When asked about how its been settling into parenthood as a dad of two, Brian said:
"I feel like some days I have 5 children. Everyone that has more than 2, you’ve said it, Pippa said it, and then there’s my sister, I’m one of 7. But the jump from, because when you have 1, you can still do your thing. Pass the baby over, when the baby sleeps, you can do loads, when you have 2, you’re passing back and forth, it’s like tag with the kids. You can’t do anything."
Talking to his co-host Suzanne he added:
"But having 2, oh Suzanne Kane, like I was in my pyjamas for like the first 3 or 4 weeks because it was just. But I like that, but it's been full on. It’s a lot with 2 kids, it really is, and I always say to Arthur and my sisters, ‘How did our families do it back in then? In the eighties?’, well they had no choice I suppose, but they had so many kids."
