A new late-night Welfare Area will be in operation in Dublin city centre this weekend to support people out socialising.
Trained medics and security staff will be on hand at Foster Place on College Green between the hours of 11pm and 4am tonight, Saturday night and Sunday night.
The initiative, that's being piloted by Dublin City Council, aims to ensure the safety and well-being of people enjoying the festive season.
Dublin's Night-Time Economy Advisor, Ray O'Donoghue, says they're hoping to set up a semi-permanent Welfare Area in future;
"It's basically there if people need it. Think about a medical tent or a welfare area at a festival, somewhere where you need to go if you've had too much to drink or you've got yourself into a bit of bother, or you've taken something you shouldn't have.
It's a friendly zone, it's a safe space."
