Thousands of football fans will have a slightly longer walk to the Aviva for tonight's Ireland game against Denmark.

Lansdowne Road DART station is being closed as part of a crowd control test.

The FAI, Gardai and Irish Rail want to see how they can safely move people ahead of next summer's Euro 2020 games that will be held at the stadium.

The station will be shut to passengers from half five this evening until eleven tonight.

Irish Rail is asking people to use nearby stations instead.

Grand Canal or Sandymount are the stops either side on the line.

Barry Kenny said "there will be a shuttle bus from Sandymount to the Aviva".

"We'd urge everyone just to give those few extra minutes in terms of getting to the match" he said.

Concerns have been raised that the trial will impact people travelling home from work in the area.

Irish Rail said it recognises some people may be "discommoded" and thanked them for their patience.
