Olympic gold medalist Kellie Harrington is due to be welcomed home today on an open-top bus.
Dublin City Council has been in talks with locals in the north inner city about how best to mark the champion's homecoming.
People are being asked not to converge around Kellie's home on Portland Row due to public safety and Covid-19 restrictions.
Councillor for the North Inner-City Neill Ring says the arrangements have yet to be confirmed but any event will be confined to the local area.
"My understanding is, and it's subject to Dublin City Council, the Gardaí and Kellie herself being comfortable with it, she'll be brought in an open top bus through some of the main streets of the inner city."
The plan is to drive the bus down Ballybough Road, Kilarney Street, North Strand Road, Summer Hill, Gardiner Street and finishing at Portland Row. T
There is a concern that too many people will turn out to welcome the Gold medalist home. Cllr Ring says its unfortunate that the thousands of people who would love to be at the homecoming cannot all attend.
"The Gardaí and DCC are very conscious that if it looks like it's getting out of control, and we've no reason to believe it will, we'll have to postpone the event or divert."
