Republic of Ireland midfielder Tyler Toland has signed for Manchester City, joining the English women's Super League side from Sion Swifts.

The 18-year-old says she's realising a dream by becoming a professional footballer.

"I’m delighted to sign, I’m very excited. Since I was four or five my dream was to become a professional footballer and now it’s a reality," Toland told Man City's official website.

"I'm going to work hard… and hopefully help the team as much as I can."

The Donegal teenager became Ireland's youngest-ever senior international in 2017 and has won seven caps.

She joins fellow Ireland international Megan Connolly at City and is hoping that'll help with adjusting to her new club.

“I’ve spoken to Megan for a couple of months, she was buzzing when she found out I had signed.

“I’ve spoken to the manager and I’ve met all the girls. They’ve all been fantastic in helping me to settle in.

“(Manager) Nick Cushing is fantastic, I’ve seen him out on the training ground.

“He’s a brilliant manager and I’m looking forward to working under him.”
