An inquest has heard how a man killed in a suspected murder suicide in north Cork was afraid to stay in a house with his brother and father.
Father Tadgh, and brothers 26 year old Mark and 23 year old Diarmuid, all died during the shooting on 26 October 2020 on the farmland in north Cork.
A statement read out to the inquest from mother Anne O’Sullivan, the sole survivor of the incident on a farm in Kanturk, said Mark was afraid to stay in their home after a breakdown in his relationship with his father and brother.
The inquest also heard from a letter which was unsigned, but which gardai believe was written by Mark which said he felt he and his mother were in danger.
It was also revealed how on the morning of the incident, Anne woke to the sound of a gunshot.
And saw both Tadgh and Diarmuid firing guns into Mark’s room.
She ran to get help before finding a new lock had been put on the gate to the farm.
She then fled via a separate route to a neighbour’s home, who then called the police.
The inquest will make a final ruling later today on the manner of the deaths of Tadgh, Mark and Diarmuid.
