Trainer Jessica Harrington has announced that Sizing John's season is over after he suffered an injury setback.
The 10-year-old enjoyed a stellar season in 2017, winning the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown, the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and the Punchestown Gold Cup.
He fell on his return run at Punchestown last month but had been due to run in the upcoming Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup this weekend.
Sizing John also held entries for the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Aintree Grand National but Harrington says his campaign is now at an end:
Sadly Sizing John will not be running in the Irish Gold Cup @LeopardstownRC he was not 100% this morning following his last fast work at the curragh yesterday this is a new injury and it will rule him out for the rest of the season very frustrating for all our team
