There's been an increase in drug relapses and suicidal ideation among homeless people since the pandemic began.
New research from Merchant's Quay Ireland shows isolation, and access to facilities such as toilets, are the main concerns for people who are sleeping rough.
Those who took part in the research say the loss of face-to-face counselling services has been difficult.
The report recommends an increase in outreach support, drug-free hostels and safe spaces for homeless women.
Greg Duff is an outreach project worker with the homeless and addiction charity he says many supports simply just don't work for those who are sleeping rough:
"The amount of people that died from overdose or suicide was a lot last year. They had nowhere to go so people can see how they're doing."
