The ban on evictions, an increase in rental properties and a drop in people leaving the family home have helped cut the number of homeless families in hotels in Dublin.
They're now at their lowest level in five years according to a report from Dublin city council.
77 families were moved from hotels to self-contained apartments from March to May as more short-term rentals, including Airbnb properties, became available.
413 families are currently staying in hotels.
Rough sleeper beds
However there's now concern about the number of beds for rough sleepers, with efforts underway to secure more shelter spaces ahead of the winter.
Around 500 beds have been lost because of coronavirus restrictions.
Pat Doyle from the Peter McVerry Trust says the drop in families in hotels is welcome;
"A lot of work has gone in over the last two years in particular around getting families out of hotels and into hubs but particularity we have seen since Covid-19 the availability of property on the market."
He says the charity has moved on over 300 individuals and families into permanent accommodation.
