It's claimed visitor restrictions at maternity hospitals could be behind the recent rise in caesarian sections in Ireland.
Compared to pre-Pandemic levels, the number of C-sections and inductions increased dramatically in 2020 and 2021 - according to advocacy group AIMS.
It's believed this could be due to expectant mothers having to make decisions on their births alone.
It comes as visitors can now visit Holles Street unrestricted during certain hours.
Patners or support persons can visit Holles Street in Dublin unrestricted between the hours of 8am to 9pm every day while children and grandparents can visit between 6 and 8pm.
Maternity groups have long-campaigned for all restrictions introduced during the pandemic to be lifted.
AIMS chair, Dr. Krysia Lynch says expectant mothers shouldn't be deprived of support when important decisions are being made.
We would like to see a full return to pre-Covid restrictions where partners feel they are welcome in all maternity units.
