Bewley's Cafe on Grafton Street is to close with the loss of 110 jobs.
Staff at the well known cafe have been informed by management and a consultation process is now under way.
It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the proposed closure of the Bewley’s Café, Grafton St. We would like to sincerely thank all our café staff for their loyalty and dedication and of course our customers, who have shared many memories with us over the decades. pic.twitter.com/9RiZfA2QTE

The economic impact of Covid-19 is believed to have contributed to the decision.
Richard Guiney from business group, Dublin Town, says it's a sad day;
"I think it's a tragedy. Bewley's is core to Dublin's fabric, it's a location that has given Dublin its identity since 1927. Certainly judging by the commentary online I think a lot of Dubliners are very upset to see its demise."
The landmark cafe had closed and reopened a number of times since it was first established in 1927. In recent years the cafe underwent a multi-million euro refurbishment.
