The upcoming Harry Potter TV series is going to be coming later than expected.

HBO have announced that the show will begin production next summer, but that it’s not expected to be released until 2027.

The series will feature and entirely new cast, while staying true to the books as it’s not restricted by the time constraints of a movie!

"The series will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom, full of the fantastic detail, much loved characters and dramatic locations that Harry Potter fans have loved for over 25 years," HBO said at the time the series was first announced.

"Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally."

Similar to the movies however, the production is set to be filmed at Leavesden Studios in London.

It’s being reported that they’ve auditioned a staggering 32,000 children to the play the leading roles of Harry, Ron and Hermione, with the team reviewing up to 1,000 tapes a day.

The casting call stipulated that applicants must be residents of the UK or Ireland and aged between 9 and 11 on April 2025.

So it could be another while before we know who are going to play the famous trio!
