We need to know the truth!
As part of Steps, Ian H. Watkins (better known as H) has had worldwide success, selling millions of records with hits like 5,6,7,8 and Tragedy.
Earlier this week it was reported that his hometown of Cowbridge in Wales are so proud of him, that they’ve decided to erect an 8ft statue of him in his honour.
The news was announced by a community group called ‘Cultural Cowbridge’ with the statue set to be designed by a local artist and funded through private donations.
The story went viral and was even reported in publications like the BBC and Sky News, but now people are wondering if it’s actually real.
Even the man himself thought it was real!

"This is one of my proudest moments - not bad for a Welsh lad lots of people think is as daft as a toilet brush."
The singer added that he was “so grateful” to be the inspiration for this project and that he was looking forward to “walking down the street and waving at myself".
So wait, it’s not real?
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, people are starting to think comedian Joe Lycett is behind this story.
After the story went viral, Joe shared a video on his social media where he explained to his followers that him and his team have been feeding fake stories to the press for months for part of his new TV show ‘Late Night Lycett’.

Now speculation has begun on whether this story is one of them… as it does sound like it could be!
The group behind the proposal is said to go by the name Cultural Cowbridge - although BBC Wales failed to find anyone who had heard of it.
The town's council said it has had no applications for an 8ft H statue.
And it was reported that the statue would stand outside The Bear Hotel in the heart of the town but the hotel's owner Julian Hitchcock said he had no inkling, and it "ruined my cereal" when he heard the story being discussed on BBC Radio 2.
We’ll have to tune into Joe Lycett's show to get full confirmation on this one but this shows all the signs of a (very good) fake news story 😂
