A 35-year-old man has appeared in court charged with robbing a tourist near the Guinness Storehouse.

An Italian woman had her phone stolen at Longs Place on Monday evening.

Her friend handed over €60 in cash, after the pair had a gun pointed at them.

It's unclear if the gun was real or fake.

A man arrested near the scene on Monday appeared in court this afternoon.

Paul Heaney, of Michael Mallon House in Dublin 8, wore a blue coat and dark grey tracksuit bottoms for his appearance.

The court heard the 35-year-old told Gardai "I didn't rob anyone", and made no reply to the charge of attempted robbery.

He has been refused bail, and is due back in court next Wednesday.
