Plans for 380 apartments up to eight storeys tall on Griffith Avenue are causing more concern. The apartments would break Dublin City Council's height threshold by more than 60 percent.
Concerns are growing over the plan for the housing development on the busy road in Marino.
Fianna Fail Councillor Deirdre Heney has spoken to 98fm this morning. She says she's extremely concerned about the site and says the maximum height allowable in sites like this is 16 meters.
She added 'the height proposed in this planning application is 26 meters high and that's 60 percent in excess of what the Council allows.'
The Government's new guidelines on height introduced in December would trump the council's rules.
WHAT'S NEXT
She says Dublin City Council's chief executive Owen Keegen will be submitting an observation to An Bord Pleana.
Ms Heney says Mr Keegan plans to take account of the concerns from local public representatives. Members of the public will have until February 1st to submit their observations.
There were mixed views at a public meeting on the issue last week. The apartments are being 'built like tower blocks are not catering for families or elderly people,' said one resident.
While another said considering the current housing crisis so as long as it's a 'responsible high quality development' she will support it.
