A 78 year-old grandmother says she will go on hunger strike outside Dáil Eireann today to highlight climate change.
Patricia Devlin from Kildare says calls for action from the government have fallen on deaf ears and she as been left with no choice.
She says she wants to highlight to vulnerability of the global food supply and the impact climate change will have on our ability to survive in an era of extreme weather, increasing temperatures and rising sea levels.
"My main motivation to go on hunger strike is my anxiety for the the future of our planet and in particular the legacy I am leaving for my grandchildren" Patricia says.
Today, XR rebel and grandmother of two, Patricia from Monasterevin, Co Kildare, will begin a hunger strike outside the Dail.

She says she wants to meet with the Minister for Climate Action Richard Bruton.
In a statement from Extinction Rebellion, the organisation says she has not taken the decision to go on hunger strike lightly, and has had a health check by her GP.
The strike is part of a week-long global action by Extinction Rebellion. Patricia is one of a number of people in 22 countries who have pledged to go on hunger strike for at least a week.
