Graham Dwyer has lost his appeal against his conviction for the murder of Elaine O'Hara.
The Cork-born architect claimed he had been denied a fair trial, but this afternoon, the Court of Appeal dismissed all of his arguments.
Monday marks the eighth anniversary of Graham Dwyer’s conviction and he’ll be spending it in the Midlands Prison after he lost this appeal.
The 51yo is much greyer now and the tailored suits he wore at trial were replaced today by a Canterbury ¼ Zip top.
In a lengthy judgement, the President of the Court of Appeal dismissed his claims that prejudice was allowed to creep into his trial back in 2015.
Dwyer had raised issues with the decision to allow sex tapes to be shown.
He also criticised the judge for an apparent look he gave him at one point.
He claimed the media coverage denied him a fair trial and he accused the judge of making an error by not directing an acquittal.
All of those arguments were quickly dismissed before the court turned to the most significant ground of appeal, which related to mobile phone evidence.
But that too fell away with the judges satisfied that Dwyer had received a fair trial and that his conviction for Elaine’s murder is safe and should stand.
