Girls Aloud are set to release a new version of their hit I’ll Stand By You, using entirely lead vocals from their late bandmate Sarah Harding.

The song was originally released as a Children In Need song back in 2004, and as it approaches its 20th anniversary, the rerelease will raise money for the charity again.

"It really is a special celebration of Sarah, and also Girls Aloud's involvement with Children In Need over the years," Nadine Coyle said in a statement announcing the re-release.

Sarah Harding died of complications from breast cancer in September 2021 at the age of 39.

The band have the isolated vocals of the late singer from recording sessions back in the day, which they used in tribute to Sarah during their arena tour earlier this year.

“It was an emotional moment for us all," the band said of that moment when the tribute played during their concert.

I'll Stand By You - Sarah's Version premiered on Wednesday during Zoe Ball's BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.

Nadine told Zoe that the song was "really special" and paid tribute to "our wonderful Sarah".

Given the time of year, could the song be in line to reach Christmas No. 1?
