Gardaí are to inspect pubs in Dublin to make sure they are keeping to Covid-19 guidelines.
It comes amid reports some bars are breaching the rules since reopening on Monday.
Customers are meant to have a meal that costs at least €9 and only stay for an hour and 45 minutes.
Gardaí and the Licensed Vintners Association are asking pubs to ensure they're following the measures.
Garda inspections
Anne Marie Cagney, Assistant Commissioner, Dublin Metropolitan Region says their role is to maintain public order and that they will intervene if they see any problems;
"We will seek to engage and encourage all businesses to follow the guidelines and to do the right thing. We will also be undertaking inspections to ensure pubs are respecting the guidelines."
Donall O’Keeffe is from the LVA;
"Severe enforcement action will be taken against those rogue operators who blatantly disregard the health of their staff and customers, up to potentially losing their licence. Any disregard for public health will be a key consideration when it comes to licence renewals."
