Gardaí may soon have the power to seize scramblers and quad bikes on the spot.
New proposals are set to come before Cabinet today.
It may soon be easier for gardai to tackle the use of scrambler bikes in housing estates and waste land areas across the country.
Under new proposals being considered today officers will be able to seize the bikes on the spot and enter someone's home, with a warrant, to remove a vehicle.
Children as young as seven are driving the scramblers and quads in some residential areas.
Changes to the road traffic bill are also due to be made which will allow the use of scramblers and quads on certain lands to be covered by road traffic legislation.
