A garda operation to tackle fireworks in Dublin has started one month earlier than usual.
Gardai say Operation Tombola came into effect on September 4th, one month earlier than previous years.
It aims to crackdown on bonfires and fireworks in the run up to Halloween.
Part of the operation involves removing bonfire materials, and gardai say that a significant number of fireworks have seen seized since mid-August.
Senior gardai say that in order to assist with the operation, garda leave not already sanction for the duration of October 31st to November 2nd has been cancelled.
