A criminal investigation is expected to be launched after an outbreak of covid-19 at a Dublin care home.
It follows allegations a staff member hid a positive test result from managers and continued working according to the Irish Independent.
An elderly resident and another worker contracted the virus, while a number of others were put into isolation.
Special Correspondent with the paper, Paul Williams, says Gardaí are due to get involved;
"The sources close to the current inquiry that's going on between the management of this care home facility and the HSE are basically preparing the ground because they interview the employee and then refer the file to the Gardaí for investigation which apparently is the protocal."
It's understood the woman contracted the virus from her son who worked in a meat factory. However the contact information given at the covid test centre did not identify the person as a care worker.
It meant the care home was not contacted by the HSE in relation to the positive test.
When the facility learned of the positive result on Monday August 17th it ordered a lockdown.
