Four people have been charged in connection with an operation designed to address drug-related issues in west Dublin.
It followed a series of raids involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau on Wednesday. The Special Crime Task Force, the Air Support Unit, the Dog Unit and the Criminal Assets Bureau were also part of the operation.
Twenty-four premises in Ballyfermot, Clondalkin, Lucan and Crumlin and the city centre were searched. The operation also involved the stopping and searching of particular vehicles.
€700,000 in cash was seized, along with eight vehicles and sixteen high value watches being seized.
In total six people were arrested.
Four men will appear before Blanchardstown District Court this morning in connection with the investigation.
A man and a woman, who were also arrested, have been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the DPP.
Detective Chief Superintendent Seamus Boland, is head of Bureau at the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), said;
"This operation, led by the GNDOCB, assisted by a significant number of other Garda Síochána personnel, including a number assigned to local drug units located in West Dublin, was designed to make a significant impact on those involved in OCGs who are causing significant damage to communities in West Dublin and elsewhere.
The seizure of cash, valuable goods, vehicles and particular documents and the associated arrests is considered an important step in An Garda Síochána’s ambition to effectively tackle the criminal groups involved"
