More than four million euro is going to be spent fixing footpaths and roads in South Dublin this year.
The money will spread across projects in areas including Clondalkin, Lucan and Tallaght.
South Dublin County Council says it's increasing spending on roads and footpaths to keep them safe to travel on.
This year, the budget has been increased by 12%.
Among the bigger projects, €140,000 will be spent on the Nangor Road in Clondalkin, while €205,000 will be spent on the Ballinscorney Road.
€65,000 has been earmarked for footpath repairs in various locations of Esker Meadow Estate in Lucan.
The main features of the investment programme include:
- €1,095,000 for the Clondalkin Area
- €912,000 for the Lucan Area
- €600,000 for Tallaght Central
- €548,000 for Tallaght South
- €679,000 for the Rathfarnham Area

Michael Mulhern, South Dublin Council Council’s Director of Land Use, Planning and Transportation, said:

"This increase shows the Council’s commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles", he said.
