The Minister for Education says that an extension for Skerries Community College has been moved forward.
Joe McHugh says he met with the principal and his team this morning to inform them that the project had got the green light to be built sooner than expected.
He was speaking amid concerns that secondary schools are oversubscribed, with some children without a place for the new school term.
Minister McHugh says schools who apply for extra temporary accommodation for September 2020 will be fast tracked if possible.
He went on to say the department will attempt to ensure that all students will be accommodated for the new school year.
"The reality is, at a national level, the pressures that was on the primary sector in the last 15 to 20 years, that now has moved very much into the secondary sector" according to the minister.
