Elephant & Castle is opening in Rathmines tomorrow. We've gotten a sneak peek at the new restaurant - which is located on the corner of Rathmines Road and Castlewood Avenue.
Elephant & Castle first opened in Temple Bar in 1989 after its original owner George Schwartz and chef Liz Mee moved to Dublin from New York.
The eatery, now owned by the Press Up group, is famous for its spicy chicken wings.
The signature white facade from Temple Bar has been replicated, bringing new life to this previously quiet corner of Rathmines village.
The menu will feature the same great dishes that make Elephant & Castle a firm favourite, from the fluffy omelettes, buttermilk pancakes, caesar salads and juicy burgers, to, of course, those crispy spicy wings.
Owners are focusing on friendly laid back service, tasty food and a relaxed atmosphere. The 110 seater restaurant is spacious and bright, with large windows looking out onto buzzing Rathmines, comfy booths, and oak clad walls with black and white images from Elephant & Castles’ native New York City decking the walls.
Early 2019 will see a further expansion even further afield, when Elephant & Castle will march its way into Monkstown Village.
