Childcare providers availing of a new €75 million package must sign a contract, guaranteeing they won't charge parents more than they did before the Covid-19 outbreak.
The scheme's being introduced to allow creches reopen from June 29th, with the bulk of the funding going towards covering 85 per cent of staff wages.
€18 million is being set aside for extra staffing costs, training and hygiene products, while a once-off capital grant of €14 million is being given to adapt facilities.
Frances Byrne from Early Childhood Ireland says their members have to see if their business is still viable after Covid-19:
"A one size fits all approach won't work.
"It will be important childcare providers can take the next couple of days to look at those funding propsals along with the wage subsidy scheme and to make those decisions over the next while."
