A survey of 940 people carried out by the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre found three quarters had experienced sexual harassment.

60 per cent of those said it happened at work.

Participants described how it was downplayed as “banter” and that they feared losing their job if they complained.

CEO of the DRCC Noeline Blackwell says the system of reporting and dealing with the abuse is difficult to navigate and needs change.

She says an anonymous helpline or app could allow people to report harassment in the workplace.

The charity says it plans to develop a working group that will discuss, examine and test proposed reforms.
