Dublin Port is opening a €48 million logistics hub early next month.
It will be based on a 109-acre site just off the N2, about 15 minutes drive from the port.
Trucks will be able to drop off or collect empty containers to 'Dublin Inland Port'.
Transport commentator Conor Faughnan says it will increase capacity at the terminals in the North Dock:
"What this will mean is the use of an empty container facility north of the M50 near Finglas and that will be a large enough site with capacity to handle a lot of empty shipping containers."
