The Lord Mayor of Dublin says people are failing to stick to the rules on social distancing.

Fianna Fáil councillor Tom Brabazon says there was "party fever" on one street in his neighbourhood over the weekend.

Gardaí say public compliance with the pandemic lockdown rules has been "generally excellent" so far.

But councillor Brabazon says he's concerned about some of the incidents he's seen and heard about from other representatives in the city;

"What I saw were people openly partying in gardens, very close to each other, not socially distancing. There were was too many people in the gardens that I saw."

The Mayor of Dublin says he fears for the safety of elderly neighbours.

The current coronavirus restrictions are due to be lifted next week on May 5th but the Health Minister has warned there will no "big bang" reopening.

It's thought they may only be eased slightly or not at all.
