A restaurant and hotel group in Dublin says it will take legal action against the state if it extends restrictions in the capital.
The Press Up group, which owns the likes of the Stella, the Dean and the Workman's, says the Health Minister has published "no empirical, objective and verifiable evidence" to support the shut down of pubs and restaurants in Dublin.
The capital remains under level 3 coronavirus restrictions after a spike in cases. Bars serving food, cafes and restaurants are only allowed serve 15 people at a time outdoors under the measures. While wet bars remain shut.
The company has given the government until Tuesday to say whether it plans to extend the restrictions beyond October 10th or it will issue legal proceedings.
Aidan Donnelly of stockbroker group Davy says the shut downs have put huge pressure on the hospitality sector;
"The group itself is very big, it employs 1,800 people across five hotels, twelve bars, twenty seven restaurants and two cinemas, and what they're basically saying is the Health Minister has published no empirical, objective or verifiable evidence to support the closures in Dublin."
