Fire crews came under attack as they tried to put out two cars that had been set on fire in the middle of a road in Darndale last night, as the Dublin Fire Brigade dealt with dozens of Halloween call-outs.
Between 4pm yesterday and 6am this morning, 229 fire calls were made to the DFB. 156 of them were Halloween related.

The DFB also encountered anti-social behaviour in the city centre when rocks and fireworks were thrown at them after bins were set alight at a flat complex.
Two cars were torched and a lamp post was knocked down, blocking the entrance to an estate in Fortunestown.

Elsewhere a car was driven onto a bonfire in Coolock, two derelict houses in Cherry Orchard and Tallaght were set alight and crews put out a fire at a portacabin in Malahide.
According to Dublin City Council, there were a number of attacks on fire crews, "projectiles including fireworks were used to intimidate fire crews, but thankfully none of our crews were injured."
It went on to say that there were no reports of injuries to members of the public from Bonfires or fireworks.
