In the beautiful setting of Powerscourt Centre in the heart of Dublin is one of the cities most iconic and loved sandwiches. And while the flavour combination might appear odd to some, the thousands of people who've ordered it over the years will tell you that is simply works.
The Pepper Pot Cafe opened back in 2010, perched on the balcony of the beautiful Georgian Townhouse. It's the perfect people-watching spot for a start, but coupled with a porcelain teapot of steaming hot tae and some good things to eat, you'll be having a wonderful time!
Owner Marian Kilcoyne's ethos is "slowness in all food preparations", and the menu really showcases that. Top quality producers and considered ingredients. There is an in-house bakery where all the cakes and bakes come from, including the bagels, cakes and loaves. And it's the bread which is an important component of this week's Dublin Delish!
The famous Pear & Bacon Sambo comes with Hegarty's cheddar from County Cork, mustard mayo, organic leaves all served between two thick slices of the fluffy, crusty white bread baked in house. The pear adds the perfect balance of sweetness to the salty bacon and everything in combination together just makes this a serious treat of a sandwich that you must try.
It's not the only thing on the menu that is fantastic. Free range sausage sandwiches, bacon bagels, all complimented by chutneys and relishes made in house. Scrambled eggs with your choice of toppings is the staple of their all day breakfast menu too, so there is something for everyone here.
The Pepper Pot Cafe is open Monday to Saturday in the Powerscourt Centre, Dublin.
