Banning taxis from bus lanes and outlawing rickshaws are a number of proposals being suggested for Dublin.

The City Council wants the measures implemented to improve traffic conditions.

There are a range of proposals being put forward as part of a traffic wish list by Dublin City Council.

In total it has drawn up 17 suggestions to the Department of Transport, which it wants introduced.

It would like to see taxis banned from using certain bus lanes completely or else during specific times.

"Madness"

This is something the president of the Irish Taxis Drivers Federation Joe Heron thinks is madness:

"It's like kicking somebody when they're down and this industry is really down at the moment."

He also says that drivers have been reassured from government officials that this will not be implemented.

Another proposal is to increase the current de-clamp and tow away charges for road users.

CCTV on top of traffic lights to catch people breaking red lights is also being suggested along with banning rickshaws.
