Dublin city council is owed almost €38 million in rent arrears, the highest level ever.
3,000 accounts are behind on the payments for more than 52 weeks.
The figures for 2021 show social housing tenants owe the council €37.8 million in rent arrears, up a million euro on 2020.
Of the 25,000 tenancies, who pay €71 a week on average, 64 per cent are behind on rent.
Around half owe less than €500 euro but 41 have racked up debts of over €27,000 each. Of the 41 accounts with the highest arrears,
29 are currently in the legal process, 10 are in agreements and 2 are subject to Possession Orders.
2,999 tenants are in arrears for more than 52 weeks, owing €26 million in total.
114 tenancy warnings were issued by the local authority last year, while 12 repossession orders were secured.
